Muslims Prove the Pope Wrong

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade attends a rally in Gaza to protest against Pope Benedict XVI

"We carried out this shooting because of the pope's statement, and he must apologise," the caller, who refused to give his name, told AFP Saturday.

The attack came a day after a grenade exploded outside the same church and four days after the pope criticised connections between Islam and violence, particularly with regard to jihad, or "holy war".

Something about Allah's Snackbars (probably Snickers)

A HARDLINE cleric linked to Somalia's powerful Islamist movement has called for Muslims to "hunt down" and kill Pope Benedict XVI for his controversial comments about Islam.

Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin urged Muslims to find the pontiff and punish him for insulting the Prophet Mohammed and Allah in a speech that he said was as offensive as author Salman Rushdie's novel The Satanic Verses.

"We urge you Muslims wherever you are to hunt down the Pope for his barbaric statements as you have pursued Salman Rushdie, the enemy of Allah who offended our religion," he said in Friday evening prayers.

"Whoever offends our Prophet Mohammed should be killed on the spot by the nearest Muslim," Malin, a prominent cleric in the Somali capital, told worshippers at a mosque in southern Mogadishu.

"We call on all Islamic Communities across the world to take revenge on the baseless critic called the pope," he said.
Baseless - LOL!

'Down Down secular democracy, and punish the slanderers of Prophet Mohammed'. A Muslim twisting the words of the prophet to be violent when he really said nice fluffy things

Iraqi based terror group threaten Vatican and Rome
"We swear that we will destroy their cross in the heart of Rome ... and that their Vatican will be hit and wept over by the Pope," said Jaish al-Mujahideen (the Mujahideen's Army) in the statement, whose authenticity could not be confirmed.

"We will not rest until your thrones and your crosses have been destroyed on your own territory," said the group, which has claimed many attacks against US and government forces in Iraq.

Islam is a religion of peace and anybody who says otherwise willl die horribly.

You know, there's one thing I have to congratulate that Somali cleric on: he's made Protestants (and I'm talking about fundamentalist, Rapture Ready types) pray for a pope for the first time.

Maybe the Pope should have used cartoons, to make his point.

In the Somalian capital Mogadishu an Italian nun was attacked and killed by gunmen. Nice. And the BBC cites the Popes sorry without the use of its usual "".

He didnt apologise for what he said. He aplogised that muslims are so fucking predictable.

    well put anon.

the islamic head of public relations needs sacking im telling ya.

the pope was in hitler youth and still the muslims couldnt find a simple witty response to put the pope in his place, instead they proove the man right.

some people take themselves far too

Yeah speaking of fascists...It could be worse. On Action for Darfur day (today) the muslims could actually be condemning muslims for the genocide being committed in the name of Islam instead of attacking the Pope for what they think they heard. But I guess thats way out of the muslim PR machine's remit also. I mean theyve some inkling of how to manipulate the media - the MCB takes out a full-page advert and pens a letter to the PM to condemn our foreign policy as 'anti-muslim', whilst ignoring the massacres of muslims in the name of Islam in Darfur. Some people!

Hehehe good comments guys (and gals). The reaction of some in the Muslim community is of course beggars belief, as usual.

Somebody makes a comment about Islam not being a religion of peace = Muslim outrage

Actual atrocities such as Darfur and terror attacks on public transport = Silence. Actually not strictly true, the Arab league did condemn any intervention in Sudan. And we all know the reactions of certain Muslims to counter-terrorist operations.

Zionist youngster as an atheist I have never admired the Pope - until now.

Like you say Guvnor people take themselves too seriously!

If you haven't seen them yet, check the photos in this blog - and remember, there was a Darfur march going on....

this was posted on the MCB websiteon the 18th:

"The MCB welcomes the Pope's remarks yesterday making clear that his own personal views about the blessed Prophet Muhammad do not 'in any way' accord with those of the 14th Century Christian Emperor Paleologus whom he quoted in a speech on September 12th.

The Christian Emperor's description of the Prophet's teachings as being 'evil and inhuman' were ill-informed and inflammatory.

The MCB hopes that the Pope's clarification will now reassure Muslims across the world and reiterates its stance that any
protests should at all times be peaceful and dignified.

Any damage to Churches or violence against persons or private property in manifestation of anger or hurt is a gross betrayal of the teachings as well as conduct of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH and is wholly unacceptable. The MCB most strongly condemns such acts and calls upon all Muslims to exercise restraint and not give in to provocation or irrationality."
