Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a personal heroine of mine, she is a Somalian born, Dutch MP who has spoken out against the oppressional elements of Islam. She regularly receieves death threats from Islamist shits who want her to shut up. She created the film known as Submission with Theo Van Gogh who was nearly decapitated and had notes pinned to his corpse with threats to this courageous woman.Credit due to Marcus from Harrys Place and Pub Philosopher who picked up on this from Readers Digest.

and this is a person who stood up because of love.
Yup. She took a stand.
Reminds me of a song... Caravan Of Love by the Housemartins
Are you ready for the time of your life
It's time to stand up and fight
S'alright
S'alright
Hand in hand we'll take a caravan to the marvel land,
One by one we're gonna stand up with pride,
One that can't be denied,
Stand up,
Stand up ...
we need more people on the love side to make a stand.
not sure we have the housemartins here. but I like all music.
Jeez, you make it sound as if I read the Reader's Digest!
Thanks for the link anyway. I'll throw you one back.
That article was in the Reader's Digest quite a long time ago - it was very moving...

Really? Well British blog world could do of done with being told earlier!
Hmm, I see Gavin, I see a pipe, a rocking chair... and I see slippers, and what's that? Looks like a cardy!
