Arab satellite channel Al-Jazeera [surprise!] has broadcast a video made by a previously unknown militant group of four human rights activists taken hostage in Iraq.Think this is an honest resistance? A patriotic response to invasion of 'their country'?!
Update: I was correct in my assumption (see below) that this Norman Kember was actually opposed to the war in Iraq. (I wonder if this will hold any sway with those noble patriotic head choppers?). Well I'll sayone thing about Norman, he's got balls. Apparently he was is Iraq to "show solidarity" with the Iraqi people, his friend has said.
Watch the BBC News video here
The British aid worker reportedly kidnapped with three others in Iraq on Sunday has been named as Norman Kember.
He is said to have been kidnapped in Baghdad along with two Canadians and an American aid worker.
Professor Kember, who is believed to be in his 70s, was said to be representing a number of groups in Iraq.
From the BBC. I wonder if this is the same Norman Kember who was actually against the war? Googling his name brings up a few anti-war bits & pieces like this. Time will tell. Let's just hope we don't have another gruesome video showing the greatness of Allah.
A MASSIVE mosque that will hold 40,000 worshippers is being proposed beside the Olympic complex in London to be opened in time for the 2012 Games.
The project’s backers hope the mosque and its surrounding buildings would hold a total of 70,000
If this Mosque is built it will be so cringeworthy to watch the Olympic games, which will be watched by billions, with a fucking massive mosque next to it. *Shivers*. For a while now London has been dubbed Londinstan - this would be terrible PR for London.
Why next to the fucking olympic games? I mean come on, what are they trying to do, shove their fucking religion down our throats?
UPDATE: via American Future
Tablighi Jamaat, a worldwide Islamic missionary group, is proposing the mosque as its new UK headquarters. [The group] has come under scrutiny from western security agencies since 9/11. Two years ago, according to The New York Times, a senior FBI anti-terrorism official claimed it was a recruiting ground for Al-Qaeda. British police investigated a report that Mohammad Sidique Khan, leader of the July 7 London bombers, had attended its present headquarters in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. In August, Bavaria expelled three members of the organisation on the grounds that it promoted Islamic extremism.
By the way, the largest Christian place of worship in Britain is Liverpool’s Anglican cathedral, which has a capacity of 3,000.
ANGERED by negative portrayals of the conflict in Iraq, Bruce Willis, the Hollywood star, is to make a pro-war film in which American soldiers will be depicted as brave fighters for freedom and democracy.Well old Bruce Willis has always been my fav hollywood actor. The excellent Die Hard series, plus he stars in one of the all time best science fiction classics, Twelve Monkeys. Can't wait to see this next Willis film. Willis you are a real-american hero!
It will be based on the exploits of the heavily decorated members of Deuce Four, the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry, which has spent the past year battling insurgents in the northern Iraqi town of Mosul.
Willis attended Deuce Four’s homecoming ball this month in Seattle, Washington, where the soldiers are on leave, along with Stephen Eads, the producer of Armageddon and The Sixth Sense. The 50-year-old actor said that he was in talks about a film of “these guys who do what they are asked to for very little money to defend and fight for what they consider to be freedom”.
Unlike many Hollywood stars Willis supports the war and recently offered a $1m (about £583,000) bounty for the capture of any of Al-Qaeda’s most wanted leaders such as Osama Bin Laden, Ayman Al-Zawahiri or Abu Musab al- Zarqawi, its commander in Iraq. Willis visited the war zone with his rock and blues band, the Accelerators, in 2003. “I am baffled to understand why the things I saw happening in Iraq are not being reported,” he told MSNBC, the American news channel.
He is expected to base the film on the writings of the independent blogger Michael Yon, a former special forces green beret who was embedded with Deuce Four and sent regular dispatches about their heroics. Yon was at the soldiers’ ball with Willis, who got to know him through his internet war reports on www.michaelyon.blogspot.com.
“What he is doing is something the American media and maybe the world media isn’t doing,” the actor said, “and that’s telling the truth about what’s happening in the war in Iraq.”
Read this absolutley sickening justfication for Islamofascism in 'Pink-Veiled Islamophobia'
over at 'Lenin's Tomb'.
Well folks, thats the 'left'! Read it and weep!
You'll never believe this, but the news source for this is the BBC. Of course racist attacks against white people have happened many times before, it's just the p.c. media aren't really interested, and so the cases go widely unpublicised.
Asian gang [Pakistani of Muslim origin - not Buddhists] members who boasted they had killed a white man have been found guilty of murder. This comes day after Somalian asylum seekers (also happening to be of Muslim origin) are held on suspicion of murdering a white woman police officer (though it's not thought be a racist attack).
The court heard that after the attack Zulfiqar shouted, in Urdu: "We have killed the white man. That will teach an Englishman to interfere in Paki business."
Mr Yates's head was stamped on and he died from multiple injuries to his face, said Anthony Leonard QC, prosecuting.
"It was a ferocious attack"... After attacking Mr Yates, the group, all unemployed, moved on to Ilford where they shouted racial abuse at a black resident who remonstrated after they damaged vehicles and set off car alarms.
And people get upset when I say if Europe continues with uncontrolled immigration in the next 20-30 years there's going to be major civil unrest in European countries, as the values of the natives are subdued to 'other' values.
Some Bunting Cant liberals are just making it worse for the Muslim community by trying to appease by and large imagined sensitivities.
There is endless self-censorship going on in the media - so as to 'not upset' Muslims. Well we wouldn't want to 'upset' any Muslims - they do take themselves really quite seriously, what with all the suicide bombings etc.
Take this for example. This sounds
Sky Sports has been censured by a media watchdog for resurrecting a character from the larger than life world of American wrestling who had been "killed off" after being accused of inciting anti-Muslim sentiment among fans.Hilarious if you ask me! Well question for Muslims, what do you think about this kind of response?
The character, played by an American, Mark Copani, entered the ring wearing an Arab headdress and surrounded by a phalanx of masked men in combat clothes who were described by the commentators as his "sympathisers". There was also use of emotive language, including the words "martyr", "sacrifice" and "infidel" and footage of a previous clash between him and another wrestler was set to music that sounded like the Muslim call to prayer.
I take it Sky will also be forced to drop all other stereotypes, i.e. red indian, undertaker, black gangsta in fear of inciting anti-whatever group feelings in the audience?
It's basically a follow up on the situaiton in Indonesia following the recent beheadings of Christian school girls (for being Christian).
If you've got a spare minute I would recommend reading the whole article... I've cherry picked a few bits below...
Three weeks ago, four cousins from the tightly-knit Christian community, Theresia Morangke, 15, Alfita Poliwo, 17, Yarni Sambue, 17, and Noviana Malewa, 15, were brutally attacked as they walked to the Central Sulawesi Christian Church High School by men wearing black ski masks. Three of the girls were beheaded. Noviana, the youngest, survived, despite appalling machete wounds to her neck.Sounds to me like this Christian community are a bunch of Islamophobes! So what if they want to behead a few Christians here and there! It's part of their culture! And it's quit offensive to actually be opposed to this, since it can be justified from the Qu'ran! Careful with that free-speech - you might start a Jihad!
The headless bodies of her cousins were dumped beside a busy nearby road. Two of the heads were found several kilometres away in the suburb of Lege. The third, Theresia's, was left outside a recently built Christian church in the village of Kasiguncu.
A week after the attack, a day after Alfita's funeral, two other Christian girls, Ivon Maganti and Siti Nuraini, both 17, were shot by masked men as they walked to a Girl Scouts' meeting. They and Noviana are still critically ill in hospital. All six were Christians in a predominantly Muslim community.
And yesterday police in Sulawesi said two young women had been attacked on Friday by black-clad assailants on motorbikes armed with machetes. The beheadings and shootings were not the only attacks on Christians in the Poso region this year. A bomb in Poso's largest Christian market killed 22 people and injured 70 last May. A second bombing last week critically injured a young mother who was among 11 Christian passengers in a van.
In Bekasi, West Java, people claiming to be members of the extremist Islam Defenders Front have prevented three churches from holding services since September, claiming that they did not have the required permits. Two weeks ago, 500 members of the churches held a service in the street but were confronted by a mob of 200 Muslim extremists. Only a heavy police presence prevented a battle between them. Both sides are now taking their dispute to the courts.

(2005-11-17) — A review of 50,000 pages of previously-classified Nixon administration documents reveals that President George Bush lied to the American people about Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction and has no exit strategy from the quagmire in Iraq, according to an unnamed non-partisan official at the National Archives.
“A cursory reading of these 35-year-old documents would lead one to believe that they contain information about President Nixon, Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and Vietnam,” said the National Archives source. “But careful study by discerning historians reveals that these pages are actually a scathing condemnation of George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice and Don Rumsfeld.”
The source added that, “It’s amazing what you can learn from historical documents when you know what you’re looking for.”

Mosque Blasts Spark Murtha’s Call for Muslim Pullout
(2005-11-18) — Rep. John ‘Jack’ Murtha, D-PA, today responded to news of deadly bomb attacks on two Iraqi mosques by calling for an immediate withdrawal of Muslims from Iraq.
At least 58 worshipers were killed Friday morning in two mosques north of Baghdad when suicide bombers, strapped with explosives, detonated.
Rep. Murtha, the Johnstown Democrat who yesterday called for a rapid pullout of U.S. forces, today said that Shiite Muslims must redeploy as well.
“Shiite Muslims have done all they can in Iraq,” said Rep. Murtha, “but it is time for a change in direction. It is evident that continued Shiite worship is not in the best interest of the Iraqi people or the Persian Gulf Region.”

Amer: How old are you, Basmallah?
Basmallah: Three and a half.
Amer: Are you a Muslim?
Amer: Basmallah, do you know the Jews?
Amer: Do you like them?
Amer: Why don't you like them?
Amer: Because they are what?
Basmallah: They are apes and pigs.

Analysis on this phenenmom from an article from last years Telegraph by Charles Moore;
...When you look a little further into the question of Islamic banking, you find that it is not, in fact, required by Islam. Al-Azhar University, in Cairo, the main and ancient home of Sunni religious learning, teaches that "riba" means extortionate interest, not any interest at all, and that moderate interest should be permitted. Most Egyptian banks charge and pay interest. Even Muslims who reject this interpretation say that the doctrine of "extreme necessity" permits Muslims in non-Muslim countries to pay interest.
So what is being proposed with Islamic banking is actually a hardening of the religion, not an accommodation of its existing custom. It is rather as if Catholics, arriving in large numbers in a Muslim country, insisted that they must eat fish rather than meat on a Friday, a rule which has been dropped by the Church in modern times. And when you look at HSBC's Sharia Board you find that a couple of its members have links with the Deoband, the long-standing ultra-conservative group whose schools in Pakistan educated many of the Taliban.
A new report published by a Californian market research company on behalf of the Kuwaiti government found the US and European media were in part responsible for 32 per cent of people in the US and western Europe holding unfavourable opinions of Islam. Can't think why that could be. I'm mean it was the Jews that did 7/7 and 9/11 et al ad infitem after all...
Akbar Ahmed, chairman of Islamic Studies at the American University in Washington, said: "It is tragic. Western media powers are global giants that reach millions of people around the world, they can move civilisation in one direction or another, but they have abdicated a huge responsibility and simply added fuel to the fire."Yeh Zionist bastards! How dare the media actually report on artrocities being committed in the name of Islam!
The editor of London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi, Abdul Bari Atwan, said Muslims were the victims of generalisations in the media: "Islam should not be looked at as a monolith religion. Journalists should dive into individual stories to offer separate views of the faith."
Defending coverage of the Islamic faith and culture, Samira Kawar, senior producer of Reuters' Middle East Reports, said she had grown up in the Middle East and that the programmes she makes depict the diverse facets of life in the Arab world.Like Stonings, Beheadings, you know, real, JUSTICE! Shari'a Justice! Allah Akbar! Allah Akbar!
Nick Wrenn, CNN managing editor of Europe, Middle East and Africa, said that CNN also produced an in-depth, fair and balanced picture of the Middle East and Islam.
The presence of Ayaan Hirschi Ali, author of controversial Dutch film, Submission, whose director Theo Van Gogh was murdered in Amsterdam last year, took the discussion away from media coverage of Islam and onto wider issues of the treatment of women and the level of self reflection within the religion.
Hirschi was accused by Muslim women in the audience of associating Islam with domestic violence and committing "cultural Bin Ladenism" with her film. What bitch. How dare she insult the qu'ran! It mandates woman = 1 half of a man! Get cooking - or I will beat you (also mandated by noble Qu'ran)
Head of newsgathering at the BBC, Fran Unsworth, said that the audience should be supporting Hirschi's right to freedom of expression, particularly taking into account that it was a broadcast news conference.
Tariq Ramadan, a French academic, was applauded when he called for the media to be more self critical: "We need to avoid showing purely simplistic images of Islam, we need to show the complexity of the religion. Some Muslims are doing things that are wrong, but it is not Islam that is wrong."Tariq Ramadan = fucking prick. Sorry if you was expecting some nuanced critique! He's the smooth face of Shar'ia! Google him.

An Ablution contributor [that would be myself] points us to a comment on a British Asian blog to which I'm not linking, [see posts below about Stoning] which reads in part as follows (grammatical errors in original):
"Yes I’ve read Scott Burgess’ apologetic behaviour for the American govt. He doesn’t deny its a chemical weapon (though he tried initially until the American military admitted it)."
My initial response to this was puzzlement. How could any sane person possibly construe what I've written on the subject in this fashion, when I've made such an effort to point out - by multiple links to both weapons experts and the BBC - my belief, and the fact, that white phosphorus is not a chemical weapon?
To paraphrase Scott;
The problem is the way the anti-war crowd seem to be so enthused by failures of the US military - to the detriment of a stable Iraq. When something like White Phospherous is used by US Military - the 'left-wing' news and blogs suddenly come alive. You know the types - that want the Iraqi 'resistance' to win.
I am ashamed to admit that there have been times when I wanted more chaos, more shocks, more disorder to teach our side a lesson. On Monday I found myself again hoping that this handover proves a failure because it has been orchestrated by the Americans."
Though for those concerned I wouldn't take it too personally
If it were just the demonstrably delusional fantasies of one individual at issue, I wouldn't even bother addressing the comment, and would simply write it off, with a combination of amusement and revulsion, as the product of a comically warped mind.
Well no, not quite. We both loved Euro Trip. From Steyn Online
from The Spectator, June 26th 2004
I wouldn’t usually review teen comedies two weeks in a row, but I loved Eurotrip. Well, I loved the first two-thirds of it. It got crummy reviews in America – “Tasteless Eurotrip Doesn’t Travel Well” – and sank without trace, and I expect it’ll do the same in Britain. But it seems to me there is rare wisdom in its sense of its own limitations.
The plot is really no more than a pencil outline. Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz) has finished high school in Ohio and been dumped by his girlfriend. When he mentions this to his penpal in Germany, the German guy starts coming on to him. Enraged, Scotty breaks off all contact. His friend Coop (Jacob Pitts) then points out to him that “Mieke” is not German for Mike but a girl’s name, and that, in the photograph of Mieke and “his” cousin Jan, Jan is not the hot-looking blonde but “Yan” the dorky-looking guy. The hot-looking blonde is Mieke – or “Meeka”.
So Scotty and Coop decide to fly to Berlin. Unfortunately, the only available cheap flight is to London. But not to worry, says Coop. “The whole of Europe is, like, the size of the Eastwood Mall. We can walk to Berlin from there.” So off they set: London to Paris to Amsterdam to Bratislava - whoops - back to Berlin and then to Rome, with time for one low ethnic stereotype gag at each stop.
In America, those reviewers with memories of their own pre-college Grand Tour to refer back to took a sniffy view of the stereotypes on offer. In London, for example, Scotty and Coop go into a pub full of Man United fans. “Why,” wondered The Washington Post’s Desson Thomson, flaunting his cosmopolitan sophistication, “would a group of fans from a northern English region speak in London-area accents, unless they were the so-called Cockney Red variety of Man U. fan? And why would they be wearing shirts that bear no resemblance to their club colours?”
Well, maybe because it’s a movie, and the stereotype has been distilled to its essence. Surrounded by menacing yobs, Scotty and Coop claim to be from the Manchester United Fan Club of Ohio. When Vinnie Jones challenges them to sing the club song, Scotty thinks for a moment and then tries a little Sheena Easton:
My baby takes the Morning Train
He works from nine to five and then
He takes another home again…
And amazingly he’s right! A deeply touched Vinnie embraces his Ohio brethren, and pretty soon Scott and Coop are in the thick of it as their new pals are affectionately shattering beer glasses over their heads and going “Fooking great, fooking fookers!” and so forth.
Is Sheena Easton really the official Man Utd song? Or is Desson Thomson correct and the film is inadequately researched? Who knows? The point is, having got thoroughly rat-arsed, Scotty and Coop come round the next morning and realize that that pleasant breeze riffling through their hair is because they’re on the top deck of a topless double-decker bearing the legend “IF YOUR [SIC] NOT A MANC YOUR [SIC] A WANK” hurtling down the left-hand side of a French autoroute because Vinnie Jones thinks driving on the right is for Frog nancies. “Fook off, tossers!” he yells at the oncoming Renaults and Citroens.
Who can argue this ten minutes doesn’t capture the essence of England at least as well as the entire Merchant Ivory and Richard Curtis oeuvres rolled into one? Scotty and Coop stagger down the stairs to the lower deck to find the lads already awash in the first 15 early morning pints. “You guys have a completely different level of swearing over here!” marvels Coop.
After that, the stereotypes get a bit more hit and miss. The Continental men are mostly creepy perverts and indiscriminate bisexuals, which seems accurate enough, from my experience. There’s a smiling, moustachioed, predatory Italian in a white suit who enters their compartment and, as the train emerges from successive tunnels, he’s stroking one of the Americans’ legs, or nuzzling his neck, or, after one very long tunnel, sitting back contentedly on the seat smoking a cigarette. Each time he’s caught, he implores oleaginously, “Mi scoooosi…. Mi scooooooooooosi…”, and then does it again. But in Paris it’s a tiresome mime making the mile-long queue for the Louvre move even slower. And in Amsterdam, it’s an S&M dungeon.
But, as I said, I was howling with laughter. In among the nudist jokes and Pope jokes, Eurotrip is an honest acknowledgment of near total ignorance. One thing I’m surer and surer of since September 11th is that America and Europe know next to nothing about each other. Every Monday I get a big pile of London Sunday papers full of lame features professing to have the inside track on the latest trends in America, and it’s all, as the Speccie’s esteemed editor would say, complete bollocks. The one saving grace of the American media is that they can’t be bothered to reciprocate: a four-decade old joke about the alleged French obsession with mime will do for at least another four or five decades, by which time the Fifth Republic will be the First Islamic Republic of France and the Yanks may have to come up with a new gag. Eurotrip, its scenes of Paris, Berlin and Rome all filmed on the cheap in Prague, somehow captures the state of the Atlantic alliance more accurately than any in-depth analysis.
Plus every girl except the luscious-lipped lead (Michelle Trachtenberg) takes her top off.
And Matt Damon gives his best ever performance in a cameo as the shaven-headed rocker who’s nailing Scotty’s girlfriend and gets a hit song out of it, “Scotty Doesn’t Know”:
I can’t believe he’s so trusting
While I’m behind you thrusting…
I asked her to watch some of her Shari'a 'justice' in action.
Her replies as follows:
According to the Sharia carrying out any sentence isnt my business, duty, or obligation. It is the business of the leader of the Muslims because it is him who will have to answer for his leadership of those Muslims. When Prophet Muhammed (sallalahu alaihi wa salam) carried out the judgements he was the leader of the Muslims, when Abu Bakr did it, when Umar did it, and so on and so forth they were the leaders of the Muslims. Back then Muslims knew thier obligations and knew not to exceed the limits set forth by the sharia.
Today, the Muslims dont know. You have been warned Moderate Muslims! Bikhair has spoken !!! She continues...
Without sounding like a pervert, why not show a video of a man or women commiting adultery, show how thier spouse and the children react, show how thier lives and honor will forever change as a result. Above all show how widespread corruption in the land affects the people of the community. I believe your creator in the bible is recorded to have destroyed whole cities, maybe even cities with thousands or millions of people because of such activities.
You hate the idea of being stoned, you hate the idea of people being stoned, well I hate the idea of people commiting adultery. I hate it.
Oh I see. You feel really strongly against adultery! Well you should have said! Go on, stone away! If Human's will be so EVIL as to commit adultery then they should be anhilated from this earth in the most gruesome way possible!
LAHORE, Pakistan - A mob of more than 1,000 Muslims enraged by the alleged desecration of the Quran by a Christian man attacked and torched three churches on Saturday in eastern Pakistan, officials said.
The incident occurred in the rural town of Sangla Hill, about 90 kilometres (55 miles) west of Lahore. “About 1,000 to 1,200 Muslims today attacked and set on fire three churches here but no one was injured,” a local police official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
Witnesses said the mob ransacked and later set on fire three churches, a girls high school, a hostel and a medical dispensary. “Everything there has been turned into ashes,” witness Atif Jamil told AFP. Link
Many sources are reporting "Local Muslim leaders used mosque public address systems to urge Muslims to attack the churches". Link
But let's look at the root causes here. They must have been oppressed by the 3% minority Christians. Maybe the Christians have all the jobs! Whatever it is, you can be sure it's not the fault of any Muslims! Any in fact even implying that makes me an Islamophobe. I shall now procede to blow my self up and take as many Muslims with me as possible, in the name of Islamophobia.
Him: Quran says very clearly, if non Muslims are being opressed under a Muslim government or ruler, then you go fight them as well….I wonder why maulvis forget to menton this while going on and on about the concept of jihad.
Me: It also says that if you have four male Muslim witnesses an adultress can be legally stoned to death. What are your thoughts on this please? I’m not trolling, I genuinley want to hear your answer.
Him: It also says that Muslims are to be honest and not hide the truth, Allah is all seeing and all knowing. So if there are four male Muslim witnesses that see any crime take place, who are known for their honest among the people, then how can you reject their testimony?
Me: You are parodying Islamists, right?...
Him: What does the Quran advocate? When people were stoned to death during the time of Prophet Muhammed (sallalahu alaihi wa salam) what was the circumstances? Was it a tool used only against women?
What I advocate is that both men and women, dont commit adultery. And that Men and women observe each others rights that ALlah has placed on them both as husband and wife, and that they treat thier marriage like the trust that it is.Me: You sick fuck. It’s more important than men or women don’t commit adultery than the right to not be stoned to death?
Local resident Safiq Patel said Muslims picked up the tapes thinking they were readings or prayers from the Koran but were stunned to find they were violent jihad videos.
He said: "These tapes were left at points of public access in the reception areas of the mosques. "
People were shocked to find messages of jihad. It is someone trying to drum up violence, especially among the younger members of the community."
Somebody is trying to infiltrate their consciences, decision-making and values in the hope of perhaps recruiting the terrorists of the future from this community."
A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Members of the local Asian community have brought this matter to our attention."
"We have received a copy of a video which is currently being looked at. The inquiry is at an early stage."
Obviously it's not good that there are jihadi DVD's hanging around a mosque - but it's definitley good news that local Muslims are taking a stand against this crap from extremists.
....There were an estimated 200 "youths" rampaging through Evreux. With baseball bats. They injured, among others, a dozen firemen. "To those responsible for the violence, I want to say: Be serious!" [For Fucksake how lame is that?! - Ed] Mr Debré told France Info radio. "If you want to live in a fairer, more fraternal society, this is not how to go about it."
Oh, dear. Who's not "being serious" here? In Normandy, it's not just the cheese that's soft and runny. Granted that France's over-regulated sclerotic economy profoundly obstructs the social mobility of immigrants, even Mr Debris - whoops, sorry - even Mr Debré cannot be so out of touch as to think "seriously" that the rioters are rioting for "a fairer, more fraternal society". But maybe he does. The political class and the media seem to serve as mutual reinforcers of their obsolete illusions.
...The entire French establishment dithering in grievance-addressing mode until you've extracted as much political advantage as you can. Look at it this way: after two weeks, whose prestige has been more enhanced? The rioters? Or Mayor Debré, President Chirac and Prime Minister de Villepin? On every front these past two weeks, the French state has been tested and communicated only weakness.
As to the "French" "youth", a reader in Antibes cautions me against characterising the disaffected as "Islamist". "Look at the pictures of the youths," he advises. "They look like LA gangsters, not beturbaned prophet-monkeys."
Leaving aside what I'm told are more than a few cries of "Allahu Akhbar!" on the streets, my correspondent is correct. But that's the point. The first country formally to embrace "multiculturalism" - to the extent of giving it a cabinet post - was Canada, where it was sold as a form of benign cultural cross-pollination: the best of all worlds. But just as often it gives us the worst of all worlds. More than three years ago, I wrote about the "tournante" or "take your turn" - the gang rape that's become an adolescent rite of passage in the Muslim quarters of French cities - and similar phenomena throughout the West: "Multiculturalism means that the worst attributes of Muslim culture - the subjugation of women - combine with the worst attributes of Western culture - licence and self-gratification. Tattooed, pierced Pakistani skinhead gangs swaggering down the streets of northern England areas are as much a product of multiculturalism as the turban-wearing Sikh Mountie in the vice-regal escort."
Islamofascism itself is what it says: a fusion of Islamic identity with old-school European totalitarianism. But, whether in turbans or gangsta threads, just as Communism was in its day, so Islam is today's ideology of choice for the world's disaffected.
Some of us believe this is an early skirmish in the Eurabian civil war. If the insurgents emerge emboldened, what next? In five years' time, there will be even more of them, and even less resolve on the part of the French state. That, in turn, is likely to accelerate the demographic decline... As France this past fortnight reminds us, the changes in Europe are happening far faster than most people thought. That's the problem: unless you're planning on croaking imminently, you will live to see it.
With thanks to Opinionated Voice there are reports of 'Muslim youths' starting trouble in Denmark and Germany.
CNN report here. Interestingly, 67% of CNN readers actually agree with me about sending troops in.
In Denmark, as well, ongoing riots by 'Muslims' have included declarations by rioters that "this land belongs to us." "We rule this place," masked 'Muslim youth' told reporters from the city of Arhus. Link
The infamous 'Newsweek' asks "Will the riots swell the ranks of jihadists in Europe?"
Update: To be honest I don't blame Islam for this per se. These are just thuggish criminals and this lawlessness should be stopped. Imagine if white youths had gone on the rampage??! You really think they'd be so scared of criticising this behaviour?!
Aww! Cute kid! Unfortunatley she's holding a picture of a not a very nice man Ayatollah Khomeini of The Islamic Republic Of Iran.
Over at Justify This!, there is the full video for download regarding the Muslim extremists march in London. Right in Trafalgar Square - unchallenged by any left or right wing group.
No more - we need counter demonstrations in London.
The headline caught me, as I'm sure it was designed to, "Palestinian boy shot by Israeli army dies of wounds" - half expecting Reuters to mention somewhere near the end of the article that he tried to kill 5 Israelis with an RPG or something, i.e. the use of the word Boy denotes innocence. It certainly would not be the first time the media has portrayed Palestinians guilty of murder or terrrorism as complete innocents, like here or here.
But what made me sit back and take notice was this comment;
The boy's father, Ismail al Khateep, told Israeli television before the body was moved that his family had decided to donate Ahmad's organs to Israeli children who needed them.
"We want to send a message of peace to Israeli society, to the defence ministry and the Israeli parliament," he said.
"They (Israeli forces) killed my son who was healthy and we want to give his organs to those who need them."
UPDATE: This fathers actions have helped 6 people
"This morning, I did not know anything about the boy. I only knew that the doctors said they had a heart," said Samah's father, Riad. "I don't know what to say. It is such a gesture of love ... I would like for [the family] to think that my daughter is their daughter"
"I don't mind seeing the organs in an Israeli or a Palestinian. In our religion, God allows us to give organs to another person and it doesn't matter who the person is," said Jamal al-Khatib, the boy's father, who added that he hoped the donations would send a message of peace to Israelis and Palestinians.
"I had an older brother who suffered from kidney failure," he told Channel 2, "and there were no transplants available. When the doctor told me that my boy was clinically dead, I remembered my brother."

Around 10,000 Italians, most waving Israeli flags, demonstrated peacefully outside Iran's embassy in Rome to protest President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent call for Israel to be "wiped off the map"
According to Ynetnews
Approximately 15,000 people participated in the rally, which was accompanied with chants of "viva Israel! viva freedom!" the website of the Italian newspaper La Republica reported. The rally was concluded with the singing of the Israeli national anthem, "Hatikvah."
Protesters included right and left-wing politicians, local celebrities and Walter Veltroni, the mayor of Rome.
Whereas over in London thing's aren't looking so pretty - with these damn Al-Quds Anti-Israel marches - not being challenged by any sizeable group...
It really is beggar's belief it's got to this stage. 'Political ineptitude'
"Youths burned buildings and more than 500 vehicles in the eighth consecutive night of rioting. Nearly 80 arrests were made in Paris."
If this happened in Britiain the police and probably the army would be called in. Admittedly we're a lot more experienced after the troubles in Northern Ireland, but the French response has been worse than useless. (No change there then...)
Mr Sarkozy had sparked some criticism with hardline comments saying the government would not allow "troublemakers, a bunch of hoodlums, think they can do whatever they want".
WTF?! Met 'crtiticism' for making 'hardline comments'? Get the fucking army in there are restore peace & order for fucksake. Unbelievable -- even for the French.
Though most Muslims are peaceful, the founder of their religion murdered and pillaged. Therefore, Islam will always be a source of threat to peaceful secularised societies. If the founder of a religion killed in the name of religion, then "true" followers of that faith have an example to follow. Osama bin Laden is a murderer. He is also a true Muslim. The murder of van Gogh served to remind people in Holland, and throughout the West, that Islam, when "insulted", is no religion of peace.
Spot on Fjordman my friend.
Confrontation is a good thing
By Mark Steyn
According to The Sunday Telegraph, on this week's whirlwind tour of the Great Satan, the Prince of Wales "will try to persuade George W Bush and Americans of the merits of Islam…because he thinks the United States has been too intolerant of the religion since September 11". His Royal Highness apparently finds the Bush approach to Islam "too confrontational".
If the Prince wants to take a few examples of the non-confrontational approach with him to the White House, here's a couple pulled at random from the last week's news: the president of Iran called for Israel to be "wiped off the map". Kofi Annan expressed his "dismay".
Excellent. Struck the perfect non-confrontational tone. Were the Iranian nuclear programme a little more advanced and they'd actually wiped Israel off the map, the secretary-general might have felt obliged to be more confrontational and express his "deep concern".
In Sulawesi, Indonesia, three Christian girls walking home from school were beheaded.
"It is unclear what was behind the attack," reported the BBC, scrupulously non-confrontationally.
In the Australian state of Victoria, reports the Herald Sun, "police are being advised to treat Muslim domestic violence cases differently out of respect for Islamic traditions and habits". Tough luck for us infidel wife-beaters, but admirably non-confrontational Islam-wise.
Having followed the last Prince of Wales in his taste for older divorcées, His Royal Highness seems to be emulating Edward VIII on the geopolitical front, too, and carelessly aligning himself with the wrong side on the central challenge of the age. It's true that Mr Bush does not have the Prince's bulging Rolodex of bin Laden siblings and doesn't seem to get the same kick out of climbing into the old Lawrence-of-Arabia get-up for dinner with them: for His Highness, the excitement is in tents. But Bush has liberated 50 million Muslims from tyrannous regimes in Afghanistan and Iraq and, if he was in the mood to be really confrontational, he'd tell Charles to stick it up his djellaba.
Sadly, even a neocon warmonger can't get confrontational over every nickel 'n' dime emissary passing through the office, and the Administration has other problems at the moment. "Mr Bush's presidency is in deep trouble," declared Alec Russell in this space yesterday. "It is worth recalling that even at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal Mr Clinton's approval rating never dropped below 55 per cent, while Mr Bush's is now at 40."
Is it really worth recalling? Mr Clinton's approval rating stayed above 55 because he was careful not to do anything, at least on the non-pants-dropping aspects of his presidency, of which the electorate might disapprove. The oral sex was pretty much the only position he took that wasn't focus-grouped by Dick Morris beforehand - and, come to think of it, it wouldn't surprise me if it was and that's why he went ahead with it. ("Our polling suggests it would make you seem attractively flawed and human to susceptible soccer moms in swing states, Mr President.")
At any rate, above the waist, Mr Clinton governed as an "Eisenhower Republican" - ie, very non-confrontational. The president's distinguishing characteristics loomed paradoxically large over the era only because everything else he did was so small.
Mr Bush, on the other hand, wants to remake the Middle East, reform social security, legalise illegal immigrants, drill for oil in the Arctic wilderness, etc. Whatever the merits of these positions, they are confrontational. Even many of his supporters balk at two or more of the items on that list.
You could fill Yankee Stadium with the massed ranks of assistant secretaries of state and deputy national security advisers from his father's administration - and Reagan's and Ford's and Nixon's - who oppose the Bush Doctrine to blow apart the fetid stability of the Arab world. A radical repudiation of half a century of bipartisan policy on a critical component of the geopolitical scene ought to be controversial.
Posterity will decide whether Bush got that one right. By contrast, posterity will have a hard time recalling Mr Clinton at all, except as a novelty-act intermission between the Cold War and the new war. Would you rather be popular or would you rather be consequential? Popularity is a fine measure for celebrity, and even then it fades quicker than a DNA stain on an old cocktail dress.
Granted, President Bush has failed to use the bully pulpit. As I wrote in the Telegraph in September 2002: "A few weeks after the attacks, he had the highest approval ratings of any president in history. But he didn't do anything with them." And, although I was a bit off in my timing, Mr Bush was indeed eventually "right back where he was on September 10, 2001: the 50 per cent president, his approval ratings in the fifties, his 'negatives' high, the half of the country that didn't vote for him feeling no warmer toward him than if the day that 'changed the world' had never happened".
But, given that reality, it's worth pondering who it is who's dissatisfied with Bush. In November 2004, he won 51 per cent of the vote and John Kerry took 48 per cent. The five or 10 per cent who've temporarily wandered away (a poll yesterday had Bush at 45 per cent) are not "centrists" or "moderates" or "swing voters" or some other mythical category of squishes who want an end to what Alec Russell calls the Karl Rove "style of hardball politics".
The lesson of every contest from the 2000 election to the abandonment last week of Harriet Miers's Supreme Court nomination is that, as Michael Barone wrote in the Wall Street Journal, "Mr Bush can count on being firmly, and more or less unanimously, opposed by the Democrats, and he can succeed only when he has the strong support of the Republican base".
Just so. Bush is a polarising figure because these are polarising times. But, when the dust settles (metaphorically, I hope), his designation of Iran as part of an "axis of evil" will seem a shrewder judgment than that of the Euro-appeasers or the snob Islamophiles. Facing profound challenges, most political leaders in the western world have shirked confrontation on everything from Islamism to unaffordable social programmes - and their peoples will live with the consequences of that non-confrontation long after those leaders are gone.
Who? Well you must know what I'm talking about. It's been all round the blogosphere (and pretty low key on 'MainStreamMedia' - BBC you suck).
Murdering young girls in the most GRUESOME way possible? Eh? Well come on then you sick fucks, pick on someone youre own size. The dark forces of Islamism rear it's ugly, ugly head.
