BBC Names Briton Nabbed in Iraq

The British aid worker reportedly kidnapped with three others in Iraq on Sunday has been named as Norman Kember.

He is said to have been kidnapped in Baghdad along with two Canadians and an American aid worker.

Professor Kember, who is believed to be in his 70s, was said to be representing a number of groups in Iraq.

From the BBC. I wonder if this is the same Norman Kember who was actually against the war? Googling his name brings up a few anti-war bits & pieces like this. Time will tell. Let's just hope we don't have another gruesome video showing the greatness of Allah.

yeah its not like these silly violent types are thinking about who they're kidnapping - grabbing an anti-war activist! what a lot of silly idiots. and a canadian as well - who haven't even got any troops out there. ( not that any of this means that it would be 'justified' if it were someone who supported the 'war') bunch of nutters. though everyone who's ever been in a conflict knows full well its the opening up of Pandora's box when it comes down to it - all sorts of people reveal their 'nuttiness'..

and that's why I don't understand how people think if the 'troops' stay longer somehow it's all going to end nicely..eventually. its just not that simple is it..the longer it carries on, the more people die, more people get pissed off with the 'other side'.

p.s. j0nz - i don't see why you're falling for the 'religion' line. what's this about the 'greatness of Allah'?? - i mean who was it anyway who put this geopolitical war on a religous footing - the lot who said it was a war on terror and by extension the al-qaeda link. i don't think either side is being very reasonable but i dont understand how a bunch of 'patriotic' types e.g. the americans can't understand how some people might feel when their country is run-over with a bunch of soldiers..i mean im not patriotic at all, but if i were, i wouldn't be hypocritical about other's patriotism ( misguided or otherwise!!)

i mean come -on at least they could have a straightforward honest war - can't they??? i don't think its a 'lefty' thing to highlight this sort of silliness. when people kill other people i dont see how anyone can justify that one lot are 'right' and one lot aren't. that's just dumb and being as silly as the ones who as you say - are 'demonstrating some sort of greatness of god'- so come on j0nz - since you slag off religious types for their crazy zealous behaviour - which is fine - why are you averse to slagging off people who engage in the same nonsense - but because they believe in the 'greatness of their nation' - and that they are righ >? i mean whats the big difference there?

You think they believe in the greatness of their nation, that's why they kidnapped some foreigners? Get a grip!

I take you haven't actually seen any of the kidnap videos from Iraq? They tend to get beheaded and shout "Allah Akbar" (God is great) a lot. That's what I'm referring to.

It's all very easy for us in a comfortable homes to condemn what the US led forces have done. You actually asked any Iraqis?

Try read some Iraqi blogs love! Things that weren't possible under Saddam. What I feel is you justifing these criminals on the basis that 'the US invaded their country' - which with all due respect is a load of bollocks.

Because it wasn't their country. They had no freedom. It was owned by Saddam and his henchmen.

i mean come -on at least they could have a straightforward honest war - can't they???

Are you insane?! You think jihadists care about 'gentlemans' rules? They hide in a mosque, pretend they are dead, and then shoot any soldiers. Honest & fair? OMG you really think that?! They use human shields, they don't care about human life.
